Introduction...

Welcome to my messy hobby corner...😏

This is a blog to cover my love for miniature painting and scale modelling, specifically for wargaming in a WW2 setting. I'm entirely unoriginal in my preferences and approach, and mainly focus on the European Theater of Operations, seen from the US point of view.

I have been a miniature enthusiast since I was sixteen years old back in 1988, and I spent ten years of my career working for Games Workshop, both in Oslo, Norway, but also as the Product Launch Manager at their central design studio in Nottingham, UK.
The historical side of the hobby grew alongside this, and I started collecting 15mm armies for Flames of War in 2002.
In 2009, I happened upon one of the test games for what later became Kampfgruppe Normandy in the Forge World studio in Nottingham, and had a great chat with the designer, Warwick Kinrade. I fell completely in love with the rules (and Battlegroup later) and the 20mm scale, and haven't looked back since. That's not to say that I dabble exclusively in 20mm, as I also have a growing stash of 1/48 scale armour and figures, as well as a complete US force in 6mm.
One of the latest (almost completed) additions to my US force - a M3A1 halftrack from Academy (1/72)

My main reason for writing this blog, is to push myself further in the hobby - I'm a professional procrastinator, so even though I started my 20mm collection back in 2010, I haven't really had much to show for it until recently. After sharing my finished models on various wargaming and modelling groups on Facebook, I realised that there is some interest in what I'm doing outside my regular gaming group, and so I thought it would be nice to document things properly for a wider audience...

Initially, I intend to break down my finished stuff into separate subjects, and will therefore have some posts under my belt straight away. I do have a family and a quite demanding teaching position however, so you shouldn't expect too much regularity going forwards... I try to soldier on as often as I can, but with an hour or so each evening, Rome won't be built in a day, much less in a year or two...😁

Cheers,
Gustav
